-v- Roundhegians IV

Final Score:

Ossett II: 5

Roundhegians IV: 24

Ossett 2nd Team Played against a team that are 3 leagues above and at no point would have believed it apart from the score.

Ossett played with the wind against in the first half holding the visitors to 3 tries and 2 conversions.

In the second half Ossett started to take the game to Roundhegians and scored a well worked try by Harris.

Ossett played most of the second half in their opponents half and only by some fantastic if at times close to the rules defending kept Ossett out.

Roundhegians scored the last points of the game despite an obvious knock on by the visitors.

Ossett did themselves and their supporters proud with their sheer guts and determination and didn't allow themselves to be provoked into a game of dirty play.

Special mentions go out to the whole of the pack for their sheer grit and determination in the wake of adversity.

Final Score:

Selby V: 14

Ossett played with a full strength 2nd team and it showed as they brushed aside a well drilled Selby team.

Ossett started well and Harris was the first to score with a great show of strength to burst through 3 tackles to crash over near the corner, Mills added the conversion. The second Ossett try came from Robertson when he picked up from the No.8 position in the scrum and raced away to score in the right hand corner, Mills missed the conversion from wide out. The third Ossett try was a gem as Clegg fielded a kick for touch by the Selby No.10 and from wide out on the wing he collected the ball and raced around the oncoming defence before straightening up and unleashing a fantastic turn of pace to outstrip the defence to score in the corner, Mills added the conversion. The Ossett 4th try of the half was made by a quick tap penalty by Broadhead. He passed on to Mills who drew the defence before sending Robertson in for the score, Mills missed the conversion.

The second half was a lot closer than the first with Selby spoiling a lot of the ball Ossett had set with many offside plays. The next score was by Neil Selby the Ossett winger taking a pass from Harris wide out before crashing over in the corner, Broadhead kicked the conversion. Selby eventually scored when Ossett went to sleep for the first time in the game allowing them an easy score under the posts. Ossett hit back straight away when the whole team chased down field from the kick-off after Selby had scored and Woolley picked up the pieces to score, the conversion was missed. Ossett's last score was by Bert who used his strength to rip the ball from a Selby player and with a superb turn of pace outstripped the defence to score. Burt took the kick himself but failed. Selby had the last score with the Ossett team running out of energy. They won a ruck ball and the Selby player scored under the Posts. The conversion was added.
